The Happily Ever After League - Every Hat Has a Story - Arizona
Lauren Daniels founded The Happily Ever After League in 2004 after she was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 35. Lauren had a bilateral mastectomy, reconstruction surgery and a hysterectomy. Along with the help of her world-famous pig, Lord Hamilton, Lauren & HEAL have kept the goal of never turning away a qualifying mom in need. Each month 5-10 mothers receive assistance with support that helps offset the costs involved in cancer recovery.
When & why did you move to the Phoenix area?
“My family moved to Arizona when I was 10. I’m basically a home-grown girl attending Scottsdale schools and Arizona State University.”
Can you tell us about how you started Happily Ever After League?
“I started the Happily Ever After League after I was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 35. I wanted to provide a support system to other mothers who were diagnosed with cancer.”
What did you learn from your experience as a Breast Cancer survivor that you share with women today that are going through a similar battle?
“I always share with breast cancer survivors how important it is to take life one day at a time and how important a positive mindset is.”
We hear that you have quite the celebrity pig living with you. Who is Lord Hamilton?
“Lord Hamilton is the Director of Emotional Support for HEAL. He is an ambassador of joy and smiles but he has no idea how important he is. He’s just looking for his next snack. Give him a follow on Instagram.”
You’re a Best-Selling author, as well. What is the inspiration behind your book, Tiny Life Changes?
“My cancer diagnosis truly taught me to take like one day and one step at a time. I co-wrote the book with my sister Lisa and it’s truly how we live our lives.”
How has the current COVID-19 Pandemic affected your life & your day-to-day business?
“We have had to cancel our programs at the HEALing House but are finding that the need for our moms is still great. We are offering a touchless pantry bag of essentials once or twice a month to help our HEAL families get through this trying time. I do think it’s a great lesson in the concept of Tiny Life Changes, just taking one day at a time.”
Lauren has chosen Happily Ever After League as her beneficiary, who will receive 100% of the proceeds from the sale of her ‘LORD HAMILTON’ custom trucker hats.
